We are currently seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Nurse Practitioner to conduct Medical Disability Examinations (MDEs) for the Veteran population. This is a meaningful opportunity to support our nation’s Veterans by providing accurate, high-quality assessments that help determine eligibility for disability benefits.
Position Overview:
Specialty Accepted: Nurse Practitioner
Patient Population: Adult Veterans
Exam Volume: 1–8 claimants per day
Schedule: Standard daytime hours (exact schedule varies)
Location: On-site (local candidates preferred)
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive Medical Disability Examinations (MDEs), including:
Medical history review
Focused physical exams
Assessing impact of disabilities on daily life
Perform sensitive exams (PAPs, Pelvic, and other gender-specific assessments) for both male and female Veterans
Review and interpret medical records, diagnostic tests, and other clinical documentation
Complete and submit Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) and Medical Opinions (MOs) in the VA's Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system
Document findings thoroughly and accurately per VA guidelines and contractual obligations
Submit completed charts within 24–48 hours of examination
Collaborate with Quality Assurance team and manage cases through the designated case management system
Qualifications:
Current, unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner
Minimum of 1 year of experience practicing as an NP
Comfortable performing sensitive exams (both male and female patients)
Proficiency with web-based exam forms and EMRs
Strong time management and documentation skills
Technologically adept – comfortable using Windows OS, Outlook, Word, Teams, and Excel
NPI required
Local/commutable candidates preferred
