Veterans Disability Exams
Location: Chamberlain, SD
Schedule: 1–8 claimants per day
Patient Population: Adult Veterans
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) to perform Medical Disability Examinations (MDEs) for adult Veterans. This role is essential in helping Veterans receive the benefits they are entitled to by providing thorough, accurate, and compassionate assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct Comprehensive Medical Disability Exams (MDEs):
Perform focused physical evaluations and assess the functional impact of claimed disabilities on Veterans' daily lives.
Comfortable Performing Sensitive Exams:
Must be willing and able to perform PAP smears, pelvic exams, and other sensitive exams for both male and female Veterans.
Review and Analyze Medical Records:
Evaluate diagnostic results, history, and other documentation to support medical opinions.
Complete DBQs and MOs in EMR:
Complete Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) and Medical Opinions (MOs) using a web-based EMR during the exam. Ensure documentation is thorough, timely, and aligns with VA expectations.
Case Management & QA Communication:
Submit findings through a case management system and communicate with the Quality Assurance team as needed.
Timely Documentation:
Finalize and submit all charts within 24–48 hours of the exam.
Required Qualifications:
Active, unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner
Minimum 1 year of clinical experience as an NP
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Windows OS, Outlook, Word, Excel, and Microsoft Teams
Strong time management and organizational skills
NPI number required
Familiarity with web-based EMR systems and digital documentation
Local, commutable candidates are strongly preferred
