✅ Qualifications
✔️ Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program
✔️ Active Louisiana RN License required
✔️ Current BLS Certification required
✔️ Minimum of 1 year of relevant nursing experience
✔️ Experience with pre-operative assessments, IV insertion, phlebotomy, EKGs, and EMR systems
✔️ Excellent communication, critical-thinking, and organizational skills
✅ Key Responsibilities
✔️ Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments and medication reconciliation
✔️ Identify and communicate potential surgical or anesthesia risks
✔️ Start IVs, collect laboratory specimens, and administer pre-op medications
✔️ Verify informed consent, NPO status, and required testing results
✔️ Educate patients and families on surgical procedures and recovery expectations
✔️ Ensure patient safety through pre-op checklists and accurate EMR documentation
✔️ Coordinate patient flow between Pre-Op, OR, and PACU
✔️ Provide reassurance and emotional support to patients and families before surgery
