Experienced Primary Care Provider – High-Acuity Outpatient Practice (Cambridge, MD)

Job description

Sailwinds Medical Group is seeking a full-time primary care provider for our Cambridge, Maryland office. We are looking for an experienced clinician who is confident managing medically complex, comorbid patients in a high-need community setting.

This role requires comfort with both chronic disease management and same-day acute care. Our model blends traditional primary care with expanded in-office procedural capabilities. The ideal candidate is clinically strong, adaptable, and comfortable practicing at the top of their license in a dynamic outpatient environment.

Clinical Scope

In addition to comprehensive primary care and chronic care management, our providers routinely perform and manage:

• Same-day sick visits and urgent care–style evaluations
• IV fluid administration
• EKG interpretation and ambulatory heart monitor placement
• Spirometry
• Laceration repair
• Minor trauma management
• Minor wound care and debridement
• Occupational health services
• Screening examinations
• Workers’ compensation injury visits

Practice Model

Several operational features distinguish our model:

• Built-in sick visit slots are protected within each provider’s schedule to reduce disruption to chronic care patients and maintain continuity.
• We utilize a team-based medical assistant model rather than assigning a single MA per provider. Tasks are addressed in real time by the next available team member to optimize workflow and reduce bottlenecks.
• We actively reduce redundancy and automate processes where possible to allow providers to focus on patient care.
• We use Epic as our electronic health record.
• We foster a collaborative, supportive culture with continuous operational improvement.

Compensation Model

This is a percentage-of-collections position. We do not offer hourly or base salary compensation.

While we are recruiting for a full-time role, it is common and often advisable for new providers to begin part-time while building their patient panel and gradually increase days as their practice grows. As volume increases, income potential scales accordingly. There is no imposed daily visit quota. Autonomy and control over practice style are core components of our model.

Qualifications

• MD, DO, NP, or PA licensed in Maryland
• Prior primary care experience required
• Strong comfort level managing complex, multi-morbid patients
• Procedural confidence in outpatient setting
• Ability to work within a team-based workflow model
• Professional, adaptable, and self-directed
