Job Description:

Our client is looking for a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to fill a position in Santa Rosa. The NP works under the clinical supervision of the Chief Medical Officer and Director. Main duties include: create an ongoing relationship with each patient by taking complete medical history, taking complete psychiatric history, performing physical exams and making an assessment and diagnosis on adult and pediatric patients, assess, diagnose, and treat emergent and chronic psychiatric and substance abuse related disorders, practice psychiatry in a community mental health delivery system, communicate with primary care physicians regarding mental health status of referred patients, provide consultation to primary care physicians and other health staff, seek consultation on any difficult patient, maintain adequate documentation of all patients seen, manage the stable phases of chronic physical and mental illnesses in consultation with the attending physician, order and interpret lab reports, provide continuity of care through periodic home visits to bed ridden and other patients, meet with the Medical Director, Attending Physician, or Psychiatrist on a regular basis to review charting and medical care, and other duties as assigned. Qualifications:

Current unrestricted Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner License and Board Certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Current DEA. At least two years’ experience with psychotropic medication management required. At least two years’ experience in a community health center setting preferred. Ability to work independently with physician or psychiatrist telephone backup. Current CPR certification. Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
