Locum - Nurse Practitioner - Psychiatry Davenport, IA

Job description

We are seeking a Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) for a full-time locum opportunity at Genesis Medical Center Davenport in Davenport, Iowa. The provider will work in an inpatient behavioral health setting, caring for adult and adolescent patients (ages 8+). Responsibilities include conducting psychiatric assessments, admission histories, physical exams, daily rounds, medication management, diagnostic interpretation, consultations, care coordination, and patient education. The NP will collaborate closely with psychiatrists, fellow APPs, nursing staff, and a multidisciplinary behavioral health team. The facility currently uses Cerner EMR and will transition to EPIC on September 26, 2026. An active Iowa license and Board Certification are required, and new graduates will not be considered.

• Full-Time Inpatient Psychiatry – 20–22 shifts per month caring for adult and adolescent behavioral health patients in a 36-bed inpatient unit.
• Collaborative Hospital Practice – Work alongside 3 psychiatrists, 7 APPs, experienced nursing staff, and a multidisciplinary behavioral health team, with physician supervision and Cerner transitioning to EPIC.
• Call & Teaching Opportunity – Includes shared daytime, nighttime, and weekend call with exposure to hospital consults, while working in a Level III Trauma Center that hosts nursing, OT, and Family Medicine residents.
